The Manitou Sprint Triathlon – On White Bear Lake since 1991 and it just keeps getting better. Thanks Mo and Suzanne for getting it all started!
The time of year, location of this event, and the event’s distances are all planned to help the multi-sport athlete start their competitive season. Whether training for the Ironman or participating in your first triathlon, we will make sure that you have an excellent experience!
THE LOCATION - Beautiful White Bear Lake and Ramsey County Beach
THE COURSE -
*The Swim – The 1/2-mile swim takes place in beautiful White Bear Lake . Wave starts will be utilized with the first starting at 8:00 a.m. Expect race-day water temperature to be cool. Swim caps are provided, color-coded for each wave, and are required for all participants. Wet suits are recommended. Lifeguards will be on kayaks and boats for your safety. If you need to rest, let a lifeguard know. You will not be penalized for resting on a kayak. Wetsuits are allowed.
*The Bike – Maps are on the website. The 14-mile bike course will take you out into Washington County to the community of Withrow. County Road 7 has been repaved so it is smooth going. The routes are known to be scenic with many rolling hills. This area is a favorite for many Twin Cities cyclists and should prove to be very enjoyable. ANSI or Snell approved helmets are required for all participants when on the bike course. The bike course is not a close course to traffic. All corners will have volunteers for directions and safety. Drafting is not allowed.
*The Run – Maps are on the website. The 3-mile run will an out and back course all along beautiful White Bear Lake. There are aid stations at each mile on the run

**Only those who are registered by Thursday, June 19 are guaranteed to get their shirt on race day Registrations received on Friday and on race day will get a shirt but may have to wait and pick it up at FrontRunner, 1665 9th Street, White Bear Lake after Wednesday, June 25.
AWARDS and CATEGORIES:
Awards will be presented to the top three men and women in each AGE GROUP: 19 and under, 20 – 24, 25 – 29, 30 – 34, 35 – 39, 40 – 44, 45 – 49, 50 – 54, 54 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, 70 and above. Other categories include Elite, Athena (women over 165 lbs) Clydesdale (men over 220 lbs) and Teams- all male, all female or of mixed gender.
Medals to top 3 in each category
Trophies to top 3 overall Male and Female
Registration is limited to the first 500

Online Registration Closes at Midnight Thursday, June 18. There will be race day registration. Paper registration will continue through race day. No registrations will be taken over the phone. Cash, check, VISA and Mastercard are accepted on race day.
RACE DAY INFORMATION
Friday, June 19 – Pick up your packet a couple days early at: FrontRunner, 1665 9th Street, White Bear Lake – Noon until 4:00 p.m.
Registration and packet pickup opens at 7:00 a.m. Ramsey County Beach
6:30 am – Transition area opens for bikes and gear
6:45 am – Race morning packet pick up
8:00 am – Wave 1 starts
10:15 am – Awards
Here were the start waves from the 2013 Manitou Sprint Triathlon. These will probably change before the 2014 event. Each wave was 3 minutes apart
wave 1= Males age 1 – 39, all Teams, all Elites
wave 2=Females 1 – 29, Males 40 – 44, Clydesdales and Athenas
wave 3=Males 45 and up, Females 30 and up
The transition closes 15 minutes before the first wave is scheduled. At that point, everyone should head for the beach for a race meeting. For safety and security, only competitors are allowed in the transition area. Riding your bike is not allowed in the transition area. Everyone must wear an approved bike helmet. Bike helmets must always be buckled.
Timing/results info – You will receive a timing chip on an ankle strap in your race packet. This chip must be worn around your ankle (either one) and not around your arm, wrist, or on your bib strap. We will be collecting this chip at the end of the race.
Please do not leave the venue with your timing chip still around your ankle. If you unintentionally do leave with your timing chip, please mail back in your packet envelope.
Please wear your bib number on the front of your shirt/jacket
